Terra Academy Girls Basketball Coach for 2026-2027 Season

Position Summary
The Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive program that emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic achievement. This position coaches student-athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition while fostering a positive environment that promotes personal growth, an appreciation for the sport, and adherence to the mission and values of the charter school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Holds organizational meetings for prospective team members and actively encourages student participation.
2. Evaluates players’ abilities and assigns positions based on skill level and team needs.
3. Develops and implements a structured, regular practice schedule that supports both individual skill enhancement and overall team development.
4. Coordinates with the Athletic Director to schedule gym and facility use for practices and competitions.
5. Delegates responsibilities to assistant coaches, as needed.
6. Provides instruction to players—individually and in groups—regarding volleyball rules, techniques, equipment use, and game strategies.
7. Observes and analyzes players during practices and competitions to identify opportunities for improvement and adjusts coaching methods accordingly.
8. Develops game strategies that align with team strengths and competitive goals.
9. Establishes and upholds standards of student-athlete conduct, ensuring proper supervision and safety at all times.
10. Monitors student-athlete academic performance to ensure eligibility requirements are met and encourages students to maintain high academic standards.
11. Follows established protocols for managing and reporting athlete injuries.
12. Communicates with parents/guardians regarding player performance, expectations, and concerns as necessary.
13. Ensures compliance with all state, regional, league, and charter school policies governing athletics.
14. Demonstrates and models exemplary sportsmanship and professional behavior toward players, officials, opponents, and spectators.
15. Serves as a representative of the school and actively promotes the volleyball program within the school community.
16. Oversees the proper care, maintenance, and inventory of athletic equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
17. Maintains accurate records including eligibility documentation, equipment inventories, schedules, and other required reports.
18. Models inclusive and non-discriminatory practices in all coaching activities and interactions.
Qualifications
 Previous coaching experience or competitive volleyball experience preferred.
 Strong knowledge of girl’s basketball techniques, rules, and strategies.
 Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
 Commitment to supporting student achievement and upholding school values.
 CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
 Must meet all state and school background check requirements.


Senior Special Education Teacher (K–12) Full-Time School Year: 2026-2027
Position Summary
Terra Academy Charter School is seeking a compassionate, patient, and student-centered Senior Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs across K–12. This role requires a dedicated educator who believes every student can succeed when provided with individualized support, inclusive instruction, and a nurturing learning environment. The Senior Special Education Teacher will collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff to design and implement effective learning strategies that help students reach their academic, social, and developmental goals.
Minimum Qualifications
● Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field
● Minimum of 3 years of experience working with students with special needs in a school or educational setting
● Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and inclusive teaching practices
● Strong communication and collaboration skills
● Demonstrated compassion, patience, and commitment to student success
Preferred Qualifications
● Valid state teaching license or Special Education endorsement
● Experience working with K–12 students in a charter or public school setting
● Experience supporting students with diverse learning, behavioral, or developmental needs
● Leadership or mentoring experience with teachers or paraprofessionals
Key Responsibilities
● Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities
● Assist with State, Federal and other required school reports and Special Education reporting
● Provide direct specialized instruction tailored to each student’s learning needs
● Collaborate with general education teachers to implement inclusive classroom strategies
● Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
● Maintain compliance with federal, state, and school special education regulations
● Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and goals
● Provide guidance and support to paraprofessionals and special education staff
● Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development
● Foster a positive, supportive, and respectful learning environment for all students

a) have a parent or legal guardian working full-time at Terra

b) for each year they have been on the waiting list

c) for having siblings already enrolled within the school (siblings must remain in the school for one full year)
